In the past 5 years, the requirements of a web designer have changed. Previously designers created static sites with simple user interaction but now employers and clients demand more. Web sites need to be interactive, responsive, easily updated with data that is accessible in many formats, and able to be modified on the fly. Today’s web developers must be able to create mature internet applications using cutting edge technologies, which focus on interactivity, design, and web standards.
The Web Development program is a marriage of the strong design skills taught in the Communication Design department, and the rigorous programming fundamentals taught in the Computer Information Technology program. The combination of these skill sets will produce students will both skill sets and the robust background needed to compete in today’s job market. Students will work with design applications such as Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as programming languages including ASP, PHP, AJAX, JavaScript, Java, MySQL and more.
