Program Narrative

This specialized diploma, 16-credit program provides hands on training and experience in designing compelling and functional web sites. Taught in NCC’s State-of-the-art Apple computer labs, with 24/7 high speed Internet connection, students will work with top line professional graphic design and web design software and tools.

The Web Site Design program provides an introduction to the cycle of creative web site design and development, as is commonly found in the industry today. Students will develop original design concepts created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software, transfer the files into ImageReady software for web optimization, and import the files into Adobe Dreamweaver software to build the web site.

Working with Dreamweaver’s WYSWIG (what you see is what you get) interface, students will learn to create interactive web sites, including such features as image maps, frame-sets, Cascading Style Sheets, forms roll-overs, pop-up windows, sniffers and DHTML. Utilizing Adobe Flash software students will learn to enhance their web sites with animation, video and sound and increased interactivity.

Upon completion of the site design, students will publish on line. Each student will have designed and published at least one fully functional web site, as a portfolio piece, by the end of the program.
